I had such a great time in Ocean City last month learning some new painting techniques! Also enjoyed time with my art friends!!!
My 12-yr old daughter bought Pickle last year with her own money, and has completely taken care of him on her own ever sense! She loves him and gives him a great life. I painting a picture of Pickle at her request :) I used some gold ink as accents around his eye area.
Last month I got to do several amazing virtual art workshops! All through French Escapade- a great company! I learned a lot of different techniques and styles- looking forward to incorporating some in future paintings :)
I have included photos of the output of some of the sessions! Here is a list of the instructors for each image
Probably most of you have seen the lawyer who got stuck with a kitty filter on during virtual court! Funniest thing ever- "I am not a cat". So I painted zoom kitty just to commemorate this fun bit of social media news in early 2021.
Here is the link address for the video in case anyone hasn't seen it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxlPGPupdd8 I am honored to have 2 paintings juried into the Rockville Art League spring show this year! And one of the paintings is being used in the show's advertising- see below!
Additionally, I had 2 other paintings in the Potomac Valley Watercolorists show for spring 2021- and even sold a painting there! (Tree Hugger). I am so thrilled that painting will be making someone's home a little more cheerful! This was a very productive and fun workshop!! In 3 days I learned many techniques for staying loose and saving white space- both of which are critical for watercolor artists. I look forward to incorporating some of these techniques into my own style!
In February I had the great pleasure of taking an online workshop with an amazing artist! Dylan taught us his method for multiple soft layers to create an ethereal painting. Here is the mighty tigress that arose from that workshop :)
OK I had to jump on the bandwagon and paint Bernie and his mittens. This is for my mom who has been Bernie's number 1 fan for the past decade :) I loved all the memes that were created out of this viral photo and wanted to try my hand! I used ink to give it some flair :)
I had great fun "repurposing" 2 old paintings by adding some metallic gold leaf. It is a really neat process and I love the effect it gave me- now when the light hits from different angles you can see the gold highlights! Pictures don't do the enhancements justice!
